The next time you find yourself all ready to toss some burgers on the grill, and you find that you’re out of propane or the weather isn’t cooperating, grab the air fryer! You can make some delicious air fryer cheeseburgers in no time!
Air Fryer in Your RV
Adding an air fryer to our camper was one of the best things we ever did. Among the list of camper must haves, the air fryer ranks in the top 5. It does not take up a lot of room (which is great because our counter space is of course very limited). The air fryer cooks up all kinds of food, from sides like fries and tots, to main entrees like salmon and chicken. Food is cooked thoroughly without drying out. This appliance doesn’t necessarily cut down on actual cook time, but it does do a great job of crisping using just circulated air, no oil.
Of course, the added bonus of having an air fryer in the RV is that we always have a convenient indoor cooking method when the weather outside isn’t conducive to BBQ’ing. On rainy nights when we can’t light a campfire, we will even make s’mores in the air fryer!
Air Fryer Cheeseburger Ingredients
- 1lb Ground Beef (4 patties – form them yourself or buy pre-made patties)
- 1tsp Salt
- 1tsp Pepper
- 4 Slices Cheese
- 4 Hamburger Buns
- Lettuce, Onions, Tomatoes (optional toppings)
How to Make Cheeseburgers in the Air Fryer
Follow these simple steps to air fry your cheeseburgers. We made these air fryer burgers using fresh beef store bought burger patties. (Store bought hamburger patties cuts out a lot of prep time!)
You will want to add the burger patties to your air fryer basket in a single layer. If you have more burgers to cook than will fit on a single layer, you will need to cook them in batches.
We typically add a little seasoning to our burgers to add some more flavor, but this is personal preference! The recipe below calls for a little bit of salt and pepper seasoning. I also recommend this Montreal Steak seasoning for burgers if you want to jazz them up a bit! Sometimes we’ll add some garlic powder and a dash of Worcestershire sauce to our burger meat as well.
Another suggestion – toss a meat thermometer into the utensil drawer in your camper. It will come in handy when you’re cooking up burgers or steaks or roasts at the campsite. Always make sure meat is fully cooked to a safe internal temperature before consuming it. Getting sick from undercooked meat would make for a VERY bad night at the campsite!

It probably goes without saying, but you can make air fryer hamburgers the same exact way.. simply drop the slice of cheese!
Favorite Cheeseburger Toppings
We typically make up a big tray of toppings, including:
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Onions
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Pickle slices
- Bacon
If you have time earlier in the day (and room in your refrigerator) you can prep this toppings tray ahead of time. Store the toppings in an airtight container or on a tray covered in plastic wrap. This prep will cut down on the total time you spend working on the meal at lunch or dinner time.
What to Serve on the Side of Burgers
We love enjoying cheeseburgers with any number of side dishes. Here are some favorites:
- Pasta salad
- Pickle spears
- Potato chips
- Baked beans
- Cole Slaw
- Potato salad
- Tortilla chips and salsa
