We are always on the lookout for easy, tasty ideas for road trip meals that can be prepped ahead of time. Try making these homemade Uncrustables sandwiches for your next trip! They freeze great and you can easily swap out the ingredients based on individual taste preferences.
Uncrustables Are the Ultimate Easy Lunch
We have a running joke in our family. Any time the kids discover a box of Uncrustables sandwiches in the freezer, they know that some kind of travel is on the horizon. It might be a week at pony camp where I need quick and easy lunch options for the daily lunchbox. Or perhaps we are heading out of town on a road trip or camping adventure and we need a portable snack that doesn’t make a huge mess in the car.
I love the fact that Uncrustables are simple and easy to pack in a cooler. One thing that dawned on me when I was at the store buying my latest round of camping trip foods, was how easy these sandwiches would be to make at home. Not only would they be easy to make, but I could also change up the ingredients based on my kids’ individual taste preferences.
Grab the sandwich cutter: First and foremost, you will want to pick up a Cut N Seal Sandwich Press. This little piece of stainless steel is the real “magic” maker.
Ideas for Filling Your Homemade Uncrustables Sandwiches
The possibilities are really endless, but here are a few of our favorite kinds of homemade Uncrustables:

- Just Peanut Butter
- Peanut Butter and Fluff
- Hazelnut Spread (ie Nutella)
Prep and Freeze Homemade Uncrustables Ahead of Time
Besides the fact that they are easy to make and the kids love them, the other huge selling point for these sandwiches? They can be prepped ahead of time and freeze exceptionally well. So if you are packing for a trip and looking for road trip lunch ideas or you simply want to have easy lunch options in the freezer while at the campground, consider making up a batch of these Uncrustables! You can freeze them in an airtight food storage container or a plastic Ziploc bag would work well too.
