Ah, the open road, the great outdoors, and the cozy confines of your RV bedroom. But wait, where do you put all your stuff? Fear not! Today, we’re diving into the world of RV bedroom organization, turning that cramped space into a haven of order and style. We’ve got some great solutions from ceiling to floor that will not only keep your motorhome space tidy but also ensure everything stays put while you’re cruising down the highway.
Let’s get started!
RV Storage Ideas for Your Bedroom
1. Over-the-Door Organizers Transform the back of your bedroom door into a storage powerhouse with over-the-door organizers. These nifty gadgets come with pockets or hooks and are perfect for stashing shoes, accessories, or small gadgets. They’re a breeze to install and make use of often overlooked space. This pocket organizer is one of the most handy storage space areas in our travel trailer.
2. Wall-Mounted Hooks and Racks Walls aren’t just for photos! Wall-mounted hooks and racks provide a stylish way to hang clothes, hats, or even your favorite necklaces. They’re particularly handy for keeping things off the floor and within easy reach. Plus, they add a touch of personality to your RV bedroom. You can choose between hooks with incredibly sticky adhesive on the back or hook racks that get drilled to the wall.
3. Ceiling Storage Nets Look up for storage potential! Ceiling storage nets are an innovative way to utilize overhead space for lightweight items like extra bedding or seasonal clothing. They’re easy to install and keep items securely in place, even on bumpy roads.
4. Collapsible Laundry Hampers Keep dirty laundry in check with collapsible laundry hampers. They’re space-savers when in use and virtually disappear when not needed. Opt for a model with handles for easy transport to the laundromat.
5. Magnetic Strips for Tools and Accessories Magnetic strips are a godsend for keeping metal items like scissors, hair clips, or small tools neatly organized and within arm’s reach. Attach them to a wall or inside a cabinet door for a clutter-free space.
6. Hanging Closet Organizers If your closet is bursting at the seams, hanging closet organizers are your new best friend. These versatile shelves hang from the closet rod and offer extra space (and sometimes even drawers or baskets) for organizing clothes, shoe storage, or accessories. I love using the small bins and totes for storing socks, underwear and other small apparel items that would get lost in a big open closet space.
7. Bedside Caddy A bedside caddy is like a nightstand that doesn’t take up floor space. Slip it under your mattress and voila – you’ve got a spot for your phone, book, and glasses, all within easy reach from your cozy bed.
8. Vacuum Storage Bags Say goodbye to bulky bedding and seasonal clothing taking up precious space. Vacuum storage bags compress these items, freeing up a ton of room in your closet or drawers. They’re also great for keeping things dust-free and organized. These bags are my go-to for storage bulky items like blankets and throws, towels and sweaters. They even work great for storing things like spare pillows.
9. Command Hooks and Strips When you want to hang things without committing to holes in the wall, Command strips and hooks are the answer. They’re perfect for lightweight items and can be removed cleanly when it’s time to reorganize or move out.
10. Foldable Step Stool High storage areas are no longer out of reach with a foldable step stool. It’s a small, unassuming tool that makes a big difference in utilizing every inch of vertical space. When not in use, it tucks away neatly.
11. Slim Rolling Cart The slim rolling cart is a versatile storage solution for narrow spaces. Use it to store books, craft supplies, or even as a movable toiletry cart in the bedroom. Its wheels make it easy to move around as needed. I recommend keeping the cart empty while you are traveling and making sure that the cart is secure. For example, lay it on the bed, tuck it in a closet, or bungee cord it to the table. Once you have arrived at your destination, set up the cart as you wish.
Securing Your Items for Safe Travel
Now that we’ve covered the tools for organization, let’s talk about keeping everything secure during travel. The last thing you want is a flying shoe or a runaway book when you hit a bump!
- Use Velcro and Non-Slip Mats: Place Velcro strips under items that sit on shelves or counters to keep them in place. Non-slip mats also work wonders inside drawers or on shelves.
- Bungee Cords and Tension Rods: For open storage areas, use bungee cords or tension rods to hold items in place. They’re especially useful in keeping things secure in overhead storage nets.
- Cabinet Locks: Invest in cabinet locks or child-proof latches to keep doors closed while you’re on the move. This will prevent a cascade of items from greeting you when you arrive at your destination.
- Organize Strategically: Place heavier items on the bottom and lighter ones on top. Not only does this prevent damage during transit, but it also helps in maintaining the balance of your RV.
Organizing your RV bedroom might seem like a daunting task, but with these tools and strategies, it’s really not bad. Small hacks and tips can go a long way to improve your living area. Not only will you create a space that’s functional and stylish, but you’ll also ensure a safe and enjoyable journey wherever the road takes you.
